About Me

Hi, I’m Lai Wee Kiat. I’m a bodybuilder, fitness model, personal training, social media specialist, motivator and blogger. Yup, that pretty much sums it up. I’ve been into bodybuilding since 2001, when I was just 11 years old. What started out as just a hobby is now my passion, full-time career and lifestyle. To me, bodybuilding is a beautiful and meaningful sport because it tests you against yourself. In order to be successful in bodybuilding, you must persevere through pain, be humble and dedicated and resist temptations.

Singapore Bodybuilder

Throughout my journey in life and bodybuilding these few years, I have learnt one big lesson – motivation and desire makes a big difference in one’s success. In 2011, I was lost. I had no goals. I was in NUS Business School and I wasn’t doing well at all. That was because I didn’t like where my life was heading to. I didn’t want to work 8 hours a day in an office job, but that was what my degree is leading me to. I rather sweat it out in a gym, becoming bigger and stronger and teaching others how to do the same! And I want start a gym someday too! But of course, there is self-doubt, negativity and the fact that well, most personal trainers in Singapore don’t earn much.

Mr Kuala Lumpur 2012

In 2012, I decided it’s time to change. If I want to be a successful bodybuilder and personal trainer, I must get off my lazy ass, train hard and learn as much as I can. So I did just that. In 2012, I competed in Mr Kuala Lumpur 2012 and placed 2nd in the welterweight category. Not bad, at the age of 21, but that wasn’t enough. I continued my pursuit for the title relentlessly and in 2013, something that was a miracle to me happened. I didn’t just win my category (light middleweight) at Mr Kuala Lumpur 2013, but I was also the overall champion. And I happened to be the youngest person in history to win that title at age 22.
