Rivalry Between Sports

27 Apr

So I saw several of my friends posting this up with angry comments cause they feel insulted by this highly biased infograph.

Rivalry Between Sports

Now, this post isn’t about explaining scientifically how untrue the statements about bodybuilders in this infograph are.  I think that most of you could figure that to build muscle, you need to give your body what it needs and not deprive it. And although strength isn’t the main goal, most bodybuilders are definitely stronger than most people.

Getting Bodybuilding Advice: Who Not To Listen To

25 Feb

We all have many friends whose bodies are of our desire. Perhaps that skinny one, that ripped one with abs, or that toned muscular one. Does that mean we can ask them for bodybuilding advice on how to look like them? Can we just study their lifestyle and mimic them to achieve similar results? The answer is not always. Now I’m sure you’re wondering why.

Wee Kiat, Can You Teach Me How to Build Muscle?

03 Feb

See the title? That is the question I get most often. And probably the same goes for you guys who have significant amount of muscle too. Since the question is so cliché and generic, I have learnt to create a standardized answer myself.

how to build muscle

Now, before I reveal my answer, let me clarify. I only give this answer to someone who has never (or almost never) stepped into the gym and has never, with his own effort, Google for guides and answers about bodybuilding. So to say, he’s asking me to summarize Bodybuilding 101 for him. It doesn’t apply to someone who has put in some effort, trained pretty frequently and just want a few tips to move out from the plateau he’s at.

Here it goes. Read more

Fabodylous Photography – Christmas Time in Kuala Lumpur City

05 Jan
This post has nothing to do about bodybuilding. However, if you’re a fan of photography, feel free to check it out and gimme your comments/opinions/thoughts/tips! 🙂

If you guys don’t know it yet, I’ve been a big fan of photography since I got my first non-focus film camera when I was 11. And as far as I remember, my photos have been featured in a local national newspaper, The Star 15 times. Not that I was very good or anything. Just that I always had a compact camera with me everywhere I go (phone cameras weren’t as good then). Damn I sound old! Anyway, in the joyous mood for holidays, a couple of friends and I decided to have an outing to capture some great shots. Location? Kuala Lumpur City, where there are plenty of Christmas decors. Enjoy! Read more

Saving Mt Everest with Carlsberg – Day 4

21 Aug
Hi peeps, it’s been awhile since I’ve updated my blog, but I’m back. Now I know that the Saving Mt Everest with Carlsberg event happened a few months back, but I feel bad for leaving my full report on it hanging in the air. So here’s what happened on day four.

Namche with the Kongde Ri peak in the background.

It was a realllyyyy cold morning when I woke up. Of course it is. After all, we’re at 3440m above sea level. I was feeling horribly nauseous and out of breath. And the dreams I had weren’t the ones I would want to remember. So, first thing I did when I woke up was to pee. And as soon as I’m done, suddenly, the world became a blur and I started to lose my consciousness. First thing in my mind, “Get back to the bed!” but as soon as I open the toilet door, I passed out… BAMM!! With my face slammed right to the corner of the door. For the next few days, I look like this…

Sigh. -_-”

Anyway, down at the lodge’s restaurant, I met up with the rest of team Carlsberg and it seems that things went a lot worse for most of them. Some vomited. Many had bad dreams. A few of the ladies were crying. 🙁

Today’s itinerary includes a hike to Syanboche for lunch and then all the way up to Everest View Hotel, 3880m above sea level!

But first, a few of us decided to take a detour to a mini museum between Namche and Syanboche.

And look! What a huge coincidence! I met someone else from NUS too!! LOL!!

Photos of people who has summited Mt Everest. When we asked our Sherpa how does a person get his photo up on the wall, he said, “First you need to summit Mt Everest, then you need to submit your photo.”

OMG!! It’s a yeti skull! Could yetis really exist??

A photo of Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hillary, the first two persons to summit Mt Everest.

A bust of Sir Edmund Hillary.

After the museum trip, we continued trekking towards Syanboche.

Those colourful flags you see were not hung just for fun but for good luck.

Emma, again, was way ahead of us slowpokes, up to the point where she has to sit on top of the hill and wait for us to catch up. 🙁 So what do people do when they are bored?

Take photos of themselves!

She looks pretty epic in the second one, honestly.

So after that we had our lunch at Syanboche. Same ol’ high carbs, low protein diet. Sigh. And waited for like, almost an hour for our food.

And it’s all the way to Everest View Hotel!

Finally! We’ve arrived! Yea, that’s the hotel behind the trees.

A drink (non-alcoholic cause that would be dangerous at this height, unfortunately) and some celebration for surviving reaching the peak of our journey!

The hotel isn’t bad, compared to most of the lodges we stayed at along our trekking journey. It’s pretty 3-star-ish and it has heating and proper bathroom with a working hot shower… finally! I had the most euphoric and relaxing hot shower EVER!! And no, there will be no pictures of me showering in this post. -_-”

After shower it’s time to chill get some heat with the gang.

Oh look! Facebook and Internet at 3880m above sea level! My gosh, technology these days.

For dinner, it was fine dining with plenty of meat and protein. Yay! This dinner marks the end of our trek and we’ll be heading back to Kathmandu tomorrow.

U jelly?

Alright, I know this post is kinda boring cause we didn’t do much on this day. Anyway, the following posts will be more interesting as we’re gonna head back down to Kathmandu, visit places and learn about the local culture. And my dear Malaysians/Singaporeans/readers from developed countries, believe me, the lifestyle here will shock your socks off.

The Most Unique and Interactive Forum on the Net!

03 Aug
If you are a frequent visitor of this blog, I guess it’s safe to say that you’re interested in gaining free knowledge about bodybuilding, dieting, training and stay updated with events.

Well, I love to learning about new stuff too (and for free), especially stuff that will help me live my life better and happier. And one of the ways I love doing so is via online forums. On forums, anyone can ask or answer anything. And if you have anything interesting to share, you could even start a thread about it! Topics are updated super frequently and many people could simultaneously participate in a thread too. Best of all, you could even get to know people who love the same things as you do on forums!

However, there are some problems with forums which are pretty obvious. Mainly, forums are very very wordy and it is easy to get lost in the massive amounts of threads and sections. In addition, currently I’m a member of six forums because I couldn’t find one forum which covers the all the topics I want to talk about. Hmm… If only there was one which could satisfy all my forum-ing needs.

But now there’s a forum which could give you all the benefits of a regular forum without the cons. 🙂

Introducing Passiontab.com! – a forum with a difference.

And when I say that this forum is unique from any other forum you can find on the Internet, I mean it’s worlds apart.

Here’s a screenshot of how the sections list looks like:

Looks more like an iPhone homepage than a typical forum homepage, doesn’t it? 🙂
This format is so much easier to the eyes (cause it’s less wordy) and makes browsing so much more convenient!

Other than the visual uniqueness, Passiontab will have hundreds thousands of sections, covering everything from cars, music to even, who knows… animal fur dye-ing? Lol.

So if there’s a passion you’re really interested in and would want to meet other people like you, you’ll find them on Passiontab!

Now, to those who already has experience in forums, don’t you just hate it when you post in a thread and lose your conversation cause you don’t know who is replying to you? Well, how about a simple solution to that problem – quote alerts. When someone quotes you, you’ll get a notification and if you quote the person back, he’ll be notified too! Problem solved! Awesome, right?!

Last but not least, if you’re good at something, wouldn’t you like to be paid to chat about it? Passiontab is looking for experts in as many fields as possible. If you have loads of knowledge and experience in a sport, subject or industry, sign up with Passiontab, click on the Passiontab Experts link and submit your resume! Once you’ve become a Passiontab Expert, sponsors will be out looking for you to endorse their brand. Make money from discussing what you love? Hmm.. Why not? 🙂

So, if you’re already an avid forum user wanting to try out a all-new unique interface or a what-the-hell-is-a-forum kinda guy, give Passiontab a try and open up a whole new online experience for yourself. However, Passiontab isn’t launched yet. For now, like the Passiontab Facebook page and you will be informed as soon as it’s up and running!
