75-Year Old Female Bodybuilder, Ernestine Shepherd Still Going Strong

Ernestine Shepherd has gained tonnes of popularity over the net lately for being the world’s oldest female bodybuilder. So why is there so much buzz round her? Well, the obvious answer would be because it’s very VERRYYY rare to find a lady her age pumping iron. Like, duh.

BUT, in my opinion, it’s not just the fact that she’s one-of-the-kind. It’s also because she’s pursuing an interest which she is most disadvantageous in and she’s kicking ass! Think about, what person would be most hormonal-ly and biologically advantaged to build muscle? It would be guys, of course AND a guy who is in his 20s. Ernestine is the total opposite of that! She’s a 75-year-old grandma!

Thus, she has proven that even as a lady who is well into 70s, she can still build muscle. How much more inspirational can that be?!

Ernestine Shepherd’s daily routine includes waking up at 2.30am every morning for a 10-mile jog before hitting the gym for weight training. She also sticks to a diet of plain brown rice, eggs, chicken breasts and mixed vegetables. She actively motivates and preaches the importance of exercise and health to her churchmates and community.

So what can we learn from Ernestine? We can learn that YOU should have NO excuse to NOT be able to build the physique of your dreams, especially if you’re a guy and you’re not even half of Ernestine’s age yet! Secondly, if you think you’re too old to build the physique you’ve always wanted, think again. After looking at Ernestine, are you really really sure about that? I have seen many old-timers in my gym lifting weights heavier than guys my age. So you’re never too old to start. There are tonnes of articles online about tweaking certain diets and training routines to optimize the results for older trainees. Google them! 😉

I hope all of us could learn and be inspired by Ernestine Shepherd. Personally, I’m already inspired by her. I can see myself bodybuilding and still kicking ass at age 80, although, we’ll have to wait a long looonngg time to see if I really do. 🙂
